TJX Europe has announced it will open its first ever dual-branded store, with TK Maxx and HomeSense sharing a unit at Metrocentre, Gateshead.

The new store, which will open in autumn 2010, will total 45,000 sq ft and house around 60,000 different items of clothing, accessories and homeware

Martin Breeden, director of asset management at Capital Shopping Centres’ northern portfolio, said: “As Europe’s largest covered centre, and with a catchment of 2.6m people, Metrocentre is attractive to brands such as TK Maxx and HomeSense. This is the first HomeSense in the area and will be an asset to the centre, reinforcing its position as number one in the north east.”

Deborah Dolce, spokesperson for TK Maxx and HomeSense, said: “We think that shoppers are going to love having TK Maxx and HomeSense together on their doorstep. Together the shops offer a huge choice of great value style for the wardrobe and the home, all at up to 60 per cent off the RRP and all under one roof. Our philosophy of daily deliveries means there will be ever-changing fashion and homeware and new and exciting items to choose from every single visit.”
