Overgate sales grow and grow

The Overgate shopping centre in Dundee has announced sales growth for the 15th consecutive month

Overgate’s total sales growth is 3.8 per cent up from 0.7 per cent last month, out-performing results reported by the Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) of 0.8 per cent for total sales and -1.4 per cent like-for-like in July.

Angela Brennan, general manager at Overgate commented: “These figures are a true reflection of the strength of the Overgate brand.  Despite the prevailing economic conditions we’ve enjoyed a period of steady growth and welcomed a host of new retailers to the centre.  We remain committed to working in partnership with our retailers to ensure we continue to deliver a first class shopping experience.”

In addition to the increase in sales growth, Overgate’s vacancy levels have reduced - the centre welcomed brands Topshop and Topman into a new 13,400 sq ft unit last month.

The centre, which is soon to celebrate its 10th anniversary, welcomes about 13m visitors every year.
