Land Securities have submitted plans for a redevelopment of the Meteor Retail Park in Derby

If the plans are approved an extension comprising a 100,000 sq ft supermarket, five new retail units, a petrol station and a car wash will be added, providing an expected 390 additional jobs upon completion.

Jack Busby, retail portfolio manager at Land Securities said: “This retail development plan is exciting news for Derby as it will increase the food offer within the city and also help encourage further retail diversification on the park. The plans incorporate a food super store which will offer major employment opportunities for local people.”

The 186,000 sq ft park currently includes retailers Focus, Magnet, DFS, Topps Tiles, Staples, Pets at Home, Moben/Sharps/Dolphin and McDonalds.

Derby City Council is expected to make a decision towards the end of the year.
