Trespass plans nationwide expansion

Outdoor clothing specialist Trespass is planning a nationwide expansion which could see it open 100 new stores in the next two years.

A new site has already been secured in Dorchester and the company is currently in detailed negotiations with landlords for nine further branches.

In Dorchester it has taken the former Adams Childrenswear unit at 1b South Street on a new 10-year lease at £65,000 pa. The property comprises 1,572 sq ft on the ground floor and 675 sq ft on the first. Cushman & Wakefield and Bartle Pye were letting agents on behalf of Greatvine.

Trespass was established in 1984 by Glasgow-based parent company Jacobs & Turner, and it now has a total of 73 stores in the UK. Retained property agent King Sturge is now looking for units of 1,500 sq ft ground floor sales with around 300 sq ft of back-up space in high street locations across the country. It is looking to negotiate base rent and turnover lease deals to capitalise on Trespass’s strong covenant.

King Sturge retail partner Tom Keys-Toyer said: "This is the first of many more new Trespass stores in a carefully planned and selective expansion strategy that will see the retailer diversify further from its traditional heartland of Scotland and the north. We are in detailed negotiations with another nine landlords in locations such as Torquay, Leamington Spa and Worcester."
