Boots steps into Victoria Shopping Centre, Southend

Published:  17 June, 2010

Boots is relocating from its current location on Southend’s high street, to a new 5,500-sq ft store in the Victoria Shopping Centre

Boots has become the latest multiple brand to relocate into the centre following the completion of its £24m refurbishment in September 2008. Delamere Estates, a joint venture between Delamere and National Grid UK Pension Scheme, has transformed the 335,000-sq ft centre and greatly enhanced the retail facilities of the town.

William Harkness, CEO of Delamere Estates, said, “Since the refurbishment of The Victoria 18 months ago, Southend has dramatically changed its retail image and continues to attract new shoppers so Boots will be a fantastic new tenant for The Victoria.

“Retailers are trading well which is testimony to the scheme’s success as a retail destination and is part of the reason Boots has decided to relocate from the high street. The store’s opening this summer will generate further footfall, as well as attracting other well-known retailers to Southend.”

Jones Lang LaSalle and Gooch Cunliffe Whale advised Delamere Estates.
