Primark signs in Cwmbran

Fashion retailer Primark has taken the 47,500-sq ft former Woolworths store at Cwmbran, South Wales.

Primark has signed signed up for a 25-year lease on the former Woolworths store at Cwmbran Shopping, which is one of our most prominent gateways to the South Wales town. The new Primark store extends to 47,500 sq ft over three floors overlooking General Rees car park, and the retailer joins as the centre's third fashion anchor alongside Marks & Spencer and House of Fraser.

The Primark store is the latest in a number of expansions and new investments in Cwmbran – in the last few weeks, JD Sports has doubled the size of its store, and Home Bargains has opened a new 9,000 sq ft store directly opposite Cwmbran Bus Station.

Cwmbran Shopping manager, Gerry Hutchings, said: “This is a welcome boost to the local economy, and we’re sure our customers will be impressed with such a high profile addition to Cwmbran’s shops and stores. We have 170 shops and stores, and the wide choice we offer, combined with our free car parking, makes Cwmbran an extremely attractive destination for shoppers.”

Cwmbran Shopping owner, Prupim, was represented by Jones Lang LaSalle and EJ Hales. Hartnell Taylor Cook acted for Primark.
