Robin Hood swaps LA for Nottingham's Cornerhouse

Published:  12 May, 2010

Ridley Scott’s latest blockbuster, Robin Hood, is making its way to Nottingham’s Cornerhouse for the UK’s only gala screening.

The special event on May 12 is the result of months of planning and collaboration between the Cornerhouse and organisations including the city and county councils, tourism body Experience Nottinghamshire and East Midlands Trains. Hundreds of VIPs from across the city and county will join over a hundred members of the public to be amongst the first in the world to see the film, which opens nationwide on May 14.

In preparation for the screening, a starlit wooded glade is being erected by Timmermans of Woodborough. Guests will be joined by Robin Hood and Maid Marion as they walk through the tree-lined route to the screen, where they will be welcomed by the current Sheriff of Nottingham.

Cornerhouse centre manager, Suzanne Green said: “The release of Robin Hood is a significant event for Nottingham and to be hosting the UK’s only gala screening is particularly momentous.

“The film is sure to bring more people to the city to see where the legend unfolded and it was especially important that partners from across the city all worked together to maximise this opportunity as effectively as possible.”
