The Rock hits 75% occupancy with Manchester's first Cult store

Published:  12 May, 2010

The Rock in Bury, Hammerson’s 640,000-sq ft development, has signed Manchester’s first standalone Cult store, leaving the scheme over 75 per cent let.

The new store, SuperGroup’s second in the North West, will occupy 11,042 sq ft and take the mixed-use scheme to over three quarters let by space ahead of its launch on 16 July.

Richard Poyser, assistant leasing director at Hammerson commented: “Young fashion is continuing to stand out as a strong growth area with rising sales and impressive consumer demand. Securing a brand of Cult’s calibre for its first store in the Manchester region highlights the confidence in both The Rock’s retail credentials and the catchment.”

CEO of SuperGroup, Julian Dunkerton added:  “The Rock is a fabulous location and we are proud to be opening here.  Bury is a vibrant and exciting town and this means a huge amount to us.  A great deal of work and creativity have gone into the store’s design and fitting out, and we are optimistic that it will open as spectacularly as our other stores.”

Jones Lang LaSalle acted on behalf of Cult and CBRE, and GCW acted on behalf of The Rock.
