Blackpool Council has granted outline permission for the £220m Talbot Gateway scheme, targeted at regenerating north-east Blackpool.
Muse Developments submitted plans last November for a 31,000-sq ft, mixed use development including shops, restaurants, hotels, council offices and an 8,361-sq m superstore.
The scheme will be located in the north-east of the town centre, around Blackpool North station and Talbot Road, and will feature a public square.
Mike Horner, regional director at Muse, said the scheme will create hundreds of new jobs. "The development will completely transform this part of Blackpool, providing a much-needed catalyst for the ongoing regeneration of the town centre," he said.
Talbot Gateway will be delivered in partnership with the Blackpool Council, urban regeneration firm ReBlackpool and the North West Regional Development Agency.
Muse aims to begin the first phase of development in 2011.
