City Site Estates, landlord of the Mercat shopping centre in Kirkcaldy, Fife, is preparing a 250,000-sq ft retail extension to existing shopping centre,
The 215,000-sq ft Mercat is Kirkcaldy’s prime covered shopping centre and is anchored by M&S, Boots and BHS. The mall will be expanded in phases with a 100,000-sq ft supermarket and 450 underground parking spaces. In addition the scheme will include a five-screen cinema, hotel and bowling alley, existing shopping mall
A planning application is expected before the end of March 2010, but already key tenant TK Maxx has extended the lease on its 29,200 sq ft until 2020 in a deal that will also see the fashion retailer re-fit the premises to their most up to date format.
The deal with TK Maxx comes hard on the heels of 20,000 sq ft of recent new lettings in the Centre to Home Bargains, Peacocks and Brighthouse.
