UK Commercial Property Trust and Shearer Property Group have started work on the redevelopment of the former Bhs store in Bridge Street, Swindon. The 80,000 sq ft project has already secured pre-lettings to Bhs, Top Shop and River Island.
To facilitate the developement Bhs has made a temporary move into the former Woolworths store in Regent Street as demolition begins on its Bridge Street site. In addition to a new Bhs store, a 10,000-sq ft flagship store on the corner of Bridge Street and The Parade has been pre-let to Top Shop.
Another store of 9,000 sq ft has been pre-let to River Island. Only four units now remain available to let. Top Shop will open before the end of 2010 and the new Bhs store reopens in Spring 2011.
