The UK’s first Legoland Discovery Centre is set to open in Manchester on 22 March. The unique indoor attraction will open in The Trafford Centre’s Barton Square, which currently houses several homeware retailers including Next Home and Habitat.
The Discovery Centre, featuring over two million Lego bricks, is targeted at three to 12 year olds as both an entertainment and educational facility. There will be a series of interactive tours and rides, as well as recreations of the North West’s most iconic landmarks including Blackpool Illuminations and The Trafford Centre itself.
Neil Crittenden, general manager of the new Discovery Centre said: “The Manchester Legoland Discovery Centre will be the first in the UK and the best so far, so we have teamed up with a location that could support this attraction. With a footfall already of 35 million, it would take something very special to increase this, but we are sure our fun, interactive attractions will offer yet another reason for more families to visit The Trafford Centre, providing fun for Lego fans young and old and be the place to visit in 2010.”
Legoland Discovery Centres are already up and running in locations across Germany and the USA.
