Vinci Park will be the first parking company in the UK to provide Romad mobile safety phones to lone workers across all of its contracts.
The phones, which link staff to a 24-hour security control centre, were part of an 18-month pilot programme run by Vinci Park. Lone workers in five locations including Cardiff and Gatwick were trained on how to use the devices, and 11 employees activated the phones with police responding quickly in
each case.
The Romad safety phones can be tracked online using Google Maps software. They allow incoming calls while limiting outgoing calls to four pre-programmed numbers.
Debbie Hayes, director of HR at Vinci Park, said: “In an industry where parking enforcement is a challenging role, it is important that Vinci Park does all it can to ensure
the safety of our staff.
“Feeling a sense of security is central to employee satisfaction and the Romad device will provide our lone workers with an assurance that help is available at the touch of a button.”
