Shoppers can exchange their used phones for gift cards loaded with cash up to £1000. For handsets valued under £10, there is a donation to charity.

White Rose adopted the service as an environmentally responsible way of giving shoppers money to spend in the centre’s retail outlets.

Peter Cook, the centre director at White Rose, said: “We are always looking at ways to further develop our existing green credentials and provide a better shopper experience for our customers.”
