Seeing as we haven't yet opted for a Scandinavian-style bicycling royalty, our royals don't get to see the inside of shopping centres very often, but in May and June three of them visited our newest and biggest malls.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Liverpool One a few days before the official opening and were given a guided tour by its owner, the Duke of Westminster.
Prince Philip performed a topping out ceremony on one of the scheme's high-rise residential buildings, although the Queen turned down the opportunity for a rickety ride up the builder's hoist, preferring to watch a performance by local schoolchildren.
And their daughter, the Princess Royal, officially opened Silverburn on June 2. Richard Low, director of Combined Property Services and Paul Green, chairman of the mall's owner, Retail Property Holdings, gave her a tour of the Glasgow megamall, which has been trading since autumn 2007.
Her Royal Highness met various local people and organisations, and was presented to the 'Silverburn Stars' - key individuals who have played a pivotal role in bringing to Glasgow the very best of next-generation shopping and groundbreaking innovation.
