Beaverbrooks the Jewellers is the latest retailer to sign up to The Elements, Land Securities' new £130m shopping centre, currently under construction and due to open in October 2008. The centre will include 30 shop units, five restaurants, two major space users and 24,000 sq ft of leisure space. Beaverbrooks has taken 1,779 sq ft at £141,259 pa. Kenney Moore acted for Beaverbrooks and Lunson Mitchenall and Culverwell are letting agents.

Multiyork Furniture has signed a 15-year lease at around £30 per sq ft for a unit at Land Securities' Lakeside retail park, West Thurrock. The unit comprises 7,000 sq ft on ground floor with a mezzanine of 3,500 sq ft. Multiyork will trade on the ground floor, with Feather & Black operating out of the mezzanine. Multiyork was advised by its retained agent Innes England, and Harvey Spack Field and DTZ advised Land Securities.
Basildon refurbishment leads to fresh lettings
British Land has signed a string of new lettings following its £15m refurbishment of the 757,000-sq ft Eastgate Basildon.
British Hairdressing Award winner Rush has taken 540 sq ft on a 15-year lease at £55,000 pa and will open this summer. On the Food Terrace, Nando's has taken 2,670 sq ft on a 20-year lease at £76,096 pa. Also on the Terrace, Ned's Noodle Bar has taken 1,400 sq ft at £45,000 pa, while Loofer's has taken 1,755 sq ft at £55,000 pa, both on 15-year leases.
Steve Hadfield, director at British Land, said: "We're delighted to maintain good progress with these new deals, bringing leading names to the Food Terrace and strengthening our service sector with a major hair salon. Now our extensive refurbishment is complete, we're ready to focus on specific opportunities around the scheme, where we can create value through reconfiguring space for major fashion requirements."
