Hamley's expands into Ireland with Dundrum anchor store

Hamleys is to open its first Irish store at Dundrum, the 850,000-sq ft shopping centre 5km to the south of Dublin. And Bose and Gerry Weber have also signed up for stores.
Hamleys Dundrum is scheduled to open October 2008 and will occupy 37,000 sq ft over three floors, acting as an anchor in the soon to be opened Pembroke Avenue located adjacent to Town Square. The new store will also offer a café and facilities which can be hired for private parties and events.
Paul Currie, Hamleys’ trading director, said: “This is our first stand-alone store outside of Regent Street and continues our programme of global expansion. A considerable portion of our overseas customers are Irish and we are looking forward to growing this customer base.”
The new Bose store will trade in 1,420 sq ft over ground and mezzanine floors and will be situated at the entrance to Dundrum’s main shopping mall adjacent to the landmark Town Square. And German fashion brand will trade from a split-level store, with a 1,900-sq ft ground floor and a 900-sq ft mezzanine, located on the centre’s Level One near the Mill Pond entrance and adjacent to Hugo Boss and Timberland.
The signings are the latest in a recent series of lettings successes for Dundrum including the Republic of Ireland’s first stand-alone stores for both Gant and Snow+Rock, as well as major stores for Elverys Sports and Hughes & Hughes Booksellers in the centre’s new 100,000-sq ft Dundrum South development.
