Queensgate Revival |
The Queensgate Revival project to transform a major part of Huddersfield town centre with a retail led, mixed-use scheme has taken a significant step forward with the submission of a planning application to Kirklees Council.
Since announcing the blueprint for its ‘Queensgate Revival’ project, Kirklees Council, advised by Jones Lang LaSalle, has reduced and amended the scheme which will link into Threadneedle’s existing Piazza shopping centre on Princess Alexandra Walk. The new design by Leslie Jones Architects will provide two large anchor stores, 16 unit shops, 100 residential units, a 100-bed hotel and new library, art gallery and information centre, as well as a new market hall.
JLL director Peter Hague said: “The ‘Queensgate Revival’ scheme forms part of the wider regeneration of Huddersfield, and is set to breathe new life into the area through the introduction of new shopping, business and leisure facilities.”
