The shortlists have been published for three categories in the 2008 SCEPTRE Awards. Now is the time to make your choice

Shopping Centre's SCEPTRE Awards are nearly upon us again, and the big event takes place at the Dorchester Hotel on London's Park Lane on 18th June 2008.

As ever the SCEPTRE Awards aim to celebrate the best people and best practice in the shopping centre industry, and now is your chance to vote in three categories: Developer of the Year (sponsored by Europa Support Services) Managing Agent of the Year and Retailer of the Year. Look at the shortlists, and then go to http://www.sceptre-awards.co.uk to express your preference.

In the Developer of the Year category all eight shortlisted companies have opened new schemes in the past financial year. Which has taken shopping centre design to new levels? Which has most successfully faced up to the challenge of mixed-use? Or which has succeeded in attracting retailers in a tough letting climate?

In the Managing Agent of the Year category, eight of the biggest firms are shortlisted. Which is innovating fastest to develop non-rental income streams? Which has implemented the service charge code of conduct most effectively? Or which has embraced sustainability as an opportunity as much as a challenge?

And in the Retailer of the Year category we will be looking for the brand that has done the most to contribute to the shopping centre tenant mix. Which has rolled out the best store design? Which uses the power of its brand to drive footfall to a mall? Which has done most to enhance customer service?

The other 12 SCEPTRE Awards categories will be voted for by Shopping Centre's distinguished voting panel at the beginning of May. In each category they will select a shortlist of three entrants, which will be published in the next issue of Shopping Centre. These categories include the Centre Manager of the Year awards, which are divided into three specific size bands - small (up to 200,000 sq ft), medium (200,001 to 450,000 sq ft) and large (over 450,001 sq ft). Each band is open to managers of shopping centres, outlet malls and on-site managed retail parks. Security Team of the Year is another new category for this year.

And with voting under way, now is also the time to think about booking your place for the awards dinner on 18th June. Tables are available for 10 guests at £1,650 plus VAT and individual tickets are £170 plus VAT.
