Edinburgh charity Streetwork has appointed Land Securities' UK head of retail operations, Nick Peel, to its board to help develop commercial opportunities.
Streetwork helps young people in deprived areas, and rough sleepers of all ages, with finding accommodation, arranging meetings with housing officials, drugs and alcohol outreach, legal services and support for women, days out and social and sporting events.
As part of Land Securities' ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, the firm allows every employee one day's leave each month to carry out good work in the community. Peel will be using his day to advise the charity on a wide range of business-related matters including marketing, retail and the complexities of operating commercial property.
He said: "I hope through my involvement with Streetwork I can use some of my expertise and contacts to help a charity that has already made a real difference to a lot of people's lives."
