Henderson has signed up five new tenants at its St James shopping centre in Edinburgh as the landlord reports record footfall up by more than eight per cent between January and October 2007 compared to last year.
JD; Hawkins Bazaar; Bank Fashion, Poundland and Barrhead Travel have all opened in time for Christmas. General manager Rochelle Weir said: "The footfall figures demonstrate that St James remains Edinburgh city centre's leading shopping destination. With plans for the re-development of the St James Quarter well under way, it is now more important than ever that the centre is on a firm footing."
BDP and Allan Murray Architects are designing the new scheme and an outline planning application is expected to be submitted to the council next year.
