CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD has made JOHN MENZIES, formerly head of retail for Donaldsons in Scotland, a partner. C&W holds instructions to handle the St James shopping centre in Edinburgh, the St Enoch centre in Glasgow and 12 other shopping centres in Scotland.


REALM has appointed VICTORIA MITCHELL to head up the management team at the Junction 32 outlet shopping village in Castleford, in her new role as centre manager. She joins the Junction 32 team from the St Johns centre, Leeds, where she held the position of centre manager for seven years.


Following planning approval in March 2007 for the extension and redevelopment of the Westgate shopping centre in Oxford, The WESTGATE PARTNERSHIP has appointed SIMON WARD as marketing and community relations manager for the new development. He joins from the UK's largest planning company, RPS.


SIMONS GROUP has appointed two new key executives to the group board. ALAN BARNES is the new managing director of Simons Construction. An engineer by training, he has been with the company for 11 years. And STEVE MAJOR, managing director of Simons Design, has been promoted to the board. He joined the company in 1984; was appointed director in 1989 and became managing director in 1994.

KEREM CENGIZ has joined Chapman Taylor as associate director to help build on the international firm's success in Russia and CIS countries. He joins from PRP Architects where he was group design manager.


EFM FACILITIES has recruited JANET PANTLAND as a facilities administrator. She joins from book retailer Waterstones. And CHRIS CULLEN joins as a property administrator from Jones Lang LaSalle, where she worked as a PA to the head of City facilities for 10 years.


GAYE HILL has joined CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD as a senior surveyor in the Retail Asset Management group, based in London. She has 18 years' retail asset management experience gained with Hillier Parker and GVA Grimley/ACR.


REALM has appointed CHRISTINE FINLAY and ANGUS FYFE, both of whom joined the company as leasing managers in 2004, to the board. At the same time ANDREW DUNCAN joins from Lee Baron as head of marketing and communications.


PATRICK WOODALL has joined PRAGMA CONSULTING as a director. He has over 20 years' international retailing experience in companies such as Warehouse, Esprit and Groupe Etam, where he was UK managing director. Patrick will spearhead the growth of Pragma's international retail consultancy, focusing on developing business improvement strategies for retailers and their private equity investors.


HARPER DENNIS HOBBS has promoted TIM NEWMAN to director of its London-based agency team. He joined the company in October 2005 and has been working with a wide range of clients including Bik Bok, The Pier, Vagabond and Sand.


LESLIE FURNESS has appointed two new graduates. OLIVER GREEN, a graduate from Nottingham Trent University, has joined the agency team and ASHLEY WRIGHT, who graduated from Kingston University, has joined the rent review team.


Design-led architectural practice, DESIGN GROUP 3 ARCHITECTS, has promoted NICK BAKER to group design director. His career in architecture spans over 16 years.


M J MAPP has expanded its retail management team by appointing PAUL DAVIES as associate director. He was previously at Donaldsons and Land Securities. And CHRIS WOODS has joined M J Mapp as centre manager at The Galaxy centre, Luton.


The ST DAVIDS PARTNERSHIP has promoted STEVEN MADELEY, general manager of St David's shopping centre in Cardiff, to centre director, ahead of the shopping centre's link-up with the new St David's 2 development in 2009, which will expand the centre's retail offering to 180 shops spread over 967,500 sq ft.


Savills has expanded its Scottish retail team with the appointment of Ross Allardice as head of in-town retail at its Glasgow office. Having previously worked in the in-town retail team at Colliers CRE, he has 10 years' experience in the industry.


John Webster has been appointed as operations supervisor at The Piazza shopping centre in Huddersfield. He joined The Piazza customer services team in 2005, after working as a security officer at the Packhorse Centre for four years. He was soon promoted to team leader and will now become a new member of The Piazza's management team.

The BRISTOL ALLIANCE has appointed RICHARD BELT to the newly-created position of Cabot Circus centre director. He joins from Capital Shopping Centres and has over 17 years' centre management experience at some of the UK's best known shopping centres such as Lakeside and The Glades.


Manager of the month

Lend Lease has appointed Tania Stowe as the new general manager at Touchwood, its 650,000-sq ft shopping and entertainment destination in Solihull, West Midlands.

Tania joins from Bluewater, where she spent the past three years as leasing manager, working closely with the management team. During her time there, Tania introduced international retail brands to the centre such as Apple and Urban Outfitters, as well as smaller independent brands such as Little Miss Matched.

Tania is delighted to return to Touchwood, having worked with the centre prior to its opening and during its first three years of trade.

Tania began her retail and property career 14 years ago with Benetton in South Africa, and prior to joining Lend Lease she worked as the portfolio administration manager for JHI Property Services, also in South Africa, where she was responsible for the management of a portfolio of institutional, syndication and private client properties including retail, office and industrial.

Touchwood is anchored by the only John Lewis store in the West Midlands region. The centre includes 80 stores, over 20 restaurants and a Cineworld nine-screen multiplex cinema. Occupying a prime retail pitch in the town centre, Touchwood attracts in excess of 17.5 million guests annually, ensuring it remains Solihull's premier retail destination.

My years at Lend Lease have exposed me to every aspect of centre management and I'm looking forward to applying this experience to the future success of Touchwood."
