The SCEPTRE Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Capital Shopping Centres, was given to Realm's Gordon Gabbani. The announcement was greeted by a standing ovation at the packed ballroom at the Dorchester hotel, London.
Gordon has been a director of Realm, the specialist outlet manager, since it commenced trading in January 2002, and he is currently the organisation's director of asset management.
Prior to that he spent over 20 years at MEPC where he headed the shopping centre asset management team. He trained as a lawyer before starting his retail property career at Argyle Stores.
At Realm he has overall executive responsibility for the leasing, retail operations and marketing teams. And as if that wasn't enough, he also finds time to act as chairman of the BCSC's Diploma in Shopping Centre Management Advisory Board.
Introducing the award, Capital Shopping Centres' managing director Kay Chaldecott said: "Gordon's professionalism is matched only by his sense of humour."
