The BBC's Politics Show sent its cameras to Maidstone retail centre Fremlin Walk this month, where the programme makers recorded footage for a TV debate on the increased use of CCTV.

Shoppers at the centre were asked their views on the presence of the cameras and a positive set of responses was recorded. Opinions varied from, "It makes me feel safer" to "There's no better way of fighting crime." Others argued that the cameras played an equal role in protecting the businesses in the area.

Fremlin Walk's head of operations Andrew Thomas-Knowles said on the show: "We have won awards for the standard of security achieved at Fremlin Walk and are extremely proud of the safe environment."
