Debenhams has agreed to take the 93,000-sq ft anchor store at The Oval, Discovery Properties' 394,000-sq ft shopping and leisure scheme in Darlington. The retailer has signed a new 25-year lease and plans to open in autumn 2010.
In addition to the new Debenhams store, the three-level scheme will create 34 shops, five restaurants, two leisure units and a multiplex cinema. The whole scheme will be served by a new 850-space multi-storey car park that will be connected to the scheme by a new footbridge across St Augustines Way. Construction is programmed to begin in spring 2008.
Colliers CRE advised Darlington Borough Council and Discovery Properties has been advised by Sanderson Weatherall.
