Representatives from Northern Ireland shopping centres jetted off to Boston this month to learn a few tricks from their American counterparts.
Centre managers from some of Northern Ireland's leading shopping centres took part in the trip, organised by the Northern Ireland Region of Shopping Centres (NIRSC) and sponsored by, UTV, BTWShiells, Photo-Me, Safety Solutions, Robinson Cleaning, Coey Advertising, Spirit Marketing, Group 4, Clearhill Enterprises and Telco Trading.
The team of 50 delegates visited a wide variety of shopping centres including city centre, outlet, high-end, urban and community-linked schemes, to give them a flavour of the shopping experiences available in the Boston area.
The main focus of the tour was learning about best practice, new ideas, mall promotions, security initiatives, marketing initiatives, tenant mix, centre relationships with local government and future development plans.
NIRSC chairperson Clodagh Grimes said: "This was an extremely valuable and worthwhile trip for the members of the Northern Ireland Region of Shopping Centres.
"We have forged a number of useful contacts with the International Council of Shopping Centers in Boston and we are looking forward to working further with them.
"I am confident that the opportunities offered by this initiative will lead to lasting benefits for the shopping centre industry in Northern Ireland."
