Debenhams is to open its first Desire fashion store in Ireland at SVM Properties' Fairhill shopping centre in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The 20,000 sq ft unit will trade over two levels and is scheduled to open later this year.
The Desire format focuses exclusively on ladies and childrenswear along with top-end health and beauty products. Seven Desire stores are already trading across mainland Britain, with new openings scheduled for Walton- on-Thames and Altrincham.
Fairhill counts H&M, Marks & Spencer, Next, River Island, Waterstone's, BHS, Topshop, Clockwork Orange and Monsoon among its tenants and has opened a new food court, with O'Brien's, Burger King and Shanghai Express, plus an additional 300 seats.
Colin Mathewson of letting agent Osborne King said: "We are delighted to secure Desire for Fairhill. The fact this will be their first store in Ireland underscores Fairhill shopping centre's significance within Ballymena specifically and the Northern Ireland retail hierarchy generally."
