It's traditional for the youngest member of a construction team to take part in the topping out ceremony when a structure reaches its highest point.
So at the massive Silverburn development in Pollok, Glasgow, it fell to Joe Minnes, apprentice with contractor Bovis Lend Lease, to carry out the final concrete pour on the million-sq ft shopping centre. He's pictured on the left with Johann Lamont MSP and the Rt Hon Ian Davidson MP.
The construction landmark means the mall is on target to open in October 2007, when it will be anchored by Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Next. The scheme's food anchor, Scotland's biggest Tesco store, is already open and already breaking trading records.
