Debenhams is to open its first Desire fashion store in Ireland at SVM Properties' Fairhill shopping centre in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The 20,000-sq ft unit will trade over two levels and is scheduled to open later this year.
The Desire format focuses exclusively on ladies’ and children’s wear along with top-end health & beauty products. Seven Desire stores are already trading across mainland Britain with new openings scheduled for Walton- on-Thames and Altrincham.
Fairhill counts H&M, Marks & Spencer, Next, River Island, Waterstone’s, Bhs, Top Shop, Clockwork Orange and Monsoon among its tenants and the centre has recently opened a new food court, with Burger King, O’Brien’s and Shanghai Express and an additional 300 seats.
Colin Mathewson of letting agent Osborne King said: “We are delighted to have secured Desire by Debenhams for Fairhill. The fact that this will be their first store opening in Ireland underscores Fairhill Shopping Centre’s significance within Ballymena specifically and within the Northern Ireland retail hierarchy generally."
