Inditex has signed up as the key tenant in the Cabot Place West extension to the retail element of Canary Wharf. The deal has triggered the redevelopment of the former Cabot Hall events venue with retail space, creating the Docklands estate's first ground floor retail frontages. The scheme is due to open in March 2008
The Spanish fashion group has taken Unit 9, totalling 17,944 sq ft spanning three floors, on a 15-year lease. Zara will trade from 14,876 sq ft on ground, first and second floors while Massimo Dutti will trade from 3,068 sq ft on the ground and first floors.
In addition, River Island is taking 4,500 sq ft, Cards Galore 427 sq ft, Perfect Presents 600 sq ft and Space NK 1,300 sq ft. The last three are all previous tenants at Cabot Place but have relocated as part of the redevelopment.
Inditex was advised by Harper Dennis Hobbs. Lunson Mitchenall and Markham Vaughan Gillingham advised Canary Wharf Group.
