Lend Lease's £120m extension and refurbishment at Golden Square in Warrington will miss its projected opening date, the company has admitted.
In a statement Lend Lease, which is developing the scheme on behalf of the Warrington Retail Limited Partnership and Legal & General, said: "The Golden Square extension was originally scheduled to be completed in early spring of this year. Due to a number of construction delays including the supply of utilities to the scheme, Lend Lease can confirm that there has been a short delay in the anticipated opening of the extension. Lend Lease is currently consulting Debenhams, the anchor tenant, and all other stakeholders at the earliest opportunity to confirm a revised opening date later in the spring."
The project will add 375,000 sq ft to the existing 310,000-sq ft centre. In addition to the Debenhams anchor store pre-lettings have been agreed with H&M, River Island, Topshop/Topman, Office, Jane Norman, La Senza, Bank, Republic, Boots, Next, Sports World, Lush, 3 Store, WH Smith, Beaverbrooks, Perfume Shop and Fragrance Shop.
The new retail offer will elevate Warrington into a top 40 UK retail destination.
