Six shortlisted for Taunton's Firepool site

Six developers have been shortlisted by Taunton Deane District Council for the retail-led redevelopment of the 6.7-ha Firepool site in the town centre. The brownfield site is currently occupied by a livestock market and car park
David McLean Developments and Carillion; Development Securities; Kier Group; St Modwen Properties; Stanhope and Terrace Hill/Firmac Developments will now be asked to work up firm proposals before the council makes its final choice of development partner this summer.
The council is keen that any development on the site should incorporate residential and leisure uses as well as retail and that it should enhance the site's river frontage.
