First Secretary of State, Ruth Kelly, has decided not to call in CSC and LaSalle Investment Management's planning application for the £300m redevelopment and extension of the Westgate centre in Oxford. Oxford City Council will now be responsible for issuing final planning permission for the scheme.
Capital Shopping Centres' development director, Richard Cable, said: "This is excellent news. Our plans provide for a truly mixed used regeneration of the Westgate area of Oxford."
The team will now take forward the necessary pre-development work and the main construction contract could start in Spring 2008, with the completed shopping centre open to the public in Autumn 2011.
