On August 9, on the way home from an eight-day motorcycling holiday to Norway and back, I suffered a rear tyre blowout on the M20, receiving (so I'm told) near fatal injuries to both my partner and myself. My partner was airlifted to the Royal London Trauma Unit and we both were in hospital for several weeks.
Some three months later we are slowly recovering and hope to resume work within the next month or two.
Everyone from the police and ambulance services to friends and relatives has told us that we were very lucky. Had we not have been wearing the correct clothing and helmets for motorcycling we would not be here to write this letter.
One thing that has stood out and has certainly helped our recovery, especially in the 'dark times', has been the amazing response from friends and acquaintances within the shopping centre industry.
I simply cannot believe how many people have contacted me to wish us well. I didn't realise I knew so many people; sadly too many to mention here.
Their kind comments have certainly spurred us on and given us hope.
I would like, through this magazine, to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one who has taken the trouble to contact us - you know who you are.
Who says humanity is non-existent?
Hope to see you soon,
Best regards
