I am writing in response to the article 'A Quay Location' on pages 12-14 of Shopping Centre July edition. In this article there are a number of incorrect statements made about Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet which I feel need to be corrected.
There are 122 stores at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet offering discounts of 30 to 70 per cent all year round.
The Lowry Outlet in Salford is a much smaller centre and only 33 stores have a presence at both (27 per cent of those present at Cheshire Oaks as opposed to the 60 per cent stated). Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet is easily accessible from Liverpool, either by car through the Kingway Tunnel and M53 motorway or by a direct bus link from the city centre.
It is also easily accessible (in many cases more so than the Lowry Outlet) from Cheshire and south Manchester along the M56 corridor.
I would also draw attention to the fact we offer over 3,000 free car parking spaces, compared to the Lowry which only offers free parking to shoppers that make purchases.
Without doubt, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet remains the premier designer outlet destination in the north-west.
Our current strategy is to raise the bar for outlet retailing. We see ourselves not as a specialist centre, but one that competes for leisure time with other shopping destinations in the region.
Our ongoing leasing strategy, marketing, and centre improvement programme is aimed at making us the shopping centre of choice in the north-west.
