Whether you are after a pay-and-display or pay-on-foot system, there are many companies to choose from. Parkex is always a huge platform for companies eager to show off their latest innovations and this year was no exception.

Alfia attracted a huge amount of interest at the Earls Court event when it displayed its new Easi2 pay-on-foot system and Vision SI pay-and-display machine.

The Easi2 range attracted visitors from all over the globe with both the Compact and Standard pay-on-foot machines incorporating the latest touch screen and accredited Chip and Pin technology, which were the main focus of interest. With the introduction of wireless technology, Alfia is seeking to provide solutions that reduce installation costs by eliminating the need to hardwire data and communication cables.

Alfia managing director Chris Cook says: "Easi2 is clearly going to be a market leader in this sector as it meets the needs of today's demanding clients both in terms of aesthetics, technological capability and reliability."

The Vision Si pay-and-display machine has also been a success - with more than 500 machines having been sold since January. Alfia says the robust and secure characteristics of the machine are combined with the latest technology.

Parkeon demonstrated the latest version of its pay-and-display systems on its Strada Rapide terminal at Parkex last month. The new electronic hardware and software promise to reduce the machine's battery power consumption, increasing the automony of the solar powered version. Parkeon says this is an important consideration as pay-and-display terminals are required to support an increasingly complex range of functions, including on-line credit card payments and full centralisation.

One benefit of the operating system is its enhanced ticket printing capabilities, which enable the terminal to output sophisticated text, logos and icons. This transforms tickets into an attractive advertising medium, which can generate additional revenue for parking operators. alternatively tickets can be used to provide drivers with better information, while improving branding for the operator.

In addition the new system's architecture also facilitates a larger graphics screen that can now display text, logos and icons, making tariffs and operating instructions easier to see and understand for drivers.

A new feature on Parkeon's Varioflex automatic pay stations is a lost ticket facility that enables parking attendants to issue drivers with replacement tickets by remote control - making life more convenient for car park personnel and helping to prevent hold-ups at car park exits.

Metric launched its new Aura pay-and-display at Intertraffic in Amsterdam this spring. The machine features an advanced electronic locking system as standard and communication options including GSM, GPRS, GPS and WiFi, as well as high security locking features. It is also fully DDA compliant.

Metric sales and marketing director Bill Laurie is extremely confident the new Aura pay-and-display machine meets current and future market requirements following a lengthy pre-design project.

Laurie says: "We have been working on this for the last few years and we have been in this business for many, many years so we are trying to look ahead at the future markets."

APT SkiData has launched Shop & Go - a new modern system solution designed to meet the specific parking requirements of shopping centres, providing benefits to shoppers, retailers and shopping centre owners.

Shop & Go integrates with retailers' cashiering systems to allow convenient payment of parking charges at the point of sale so that shoppers just need to present their barcoded parking ticket at the till when paying for other goods.

The system also supports validation for free or discounted parking, and includes features such as multiple validation at different stores. Shop & Go provides a full audit trail for the shopping centre for reimbursement purposes.

Dermot Murphy, managing director of APT SkiData, says: "Shop & Go has been designed to improve the shopper experience, removing the annoyance of having to pay for parking separately when returning to the vehicle. It can act as an incentive for shoppers and attract more people to the shopping centre as it offers a more convenient method of payment and the potential of earning discounted parking as they shop."

Coinciding with the launch of Shop & Go, APT SkiData is also introducing Easy.Cash - a new compact pay-on-foot station, which is disabled-friendly. The device can be wall-mounted or installed on a support pedestal.

The machine's technology processes all kinds of ticket type, including mag-stripe and crosswise and lengthwise barcodes.

multipark

ACS, which took over from Ascom Parking in December, has replaced an existing pay-on-foot system at Prescott shopping centre with it's Multipark revenue management system. The 275-space split-level car park now uses two entry and two exit ticketing machines and barriers.
