Modus has confirmed the initial tenant line-up for its extension to the Houndshill shopping centre in Blackpool. Debenhams, Next, Clarks and River Island have all signed for the regeneration project that will treble the current size of the centre to 398,000 sq ft.
The development will be anchored by Debenhams with a 100,000 sq ft new department store. Next, Clarks and River Island will take a combined space of 50,000 sq ft. Retailers at the 110,000 sq ft existing centre include Primark Barratts, Claires Accessories, Superdrug, Starbucks, Dorothy Perkins and Faith Shoes.
Work has already commenced on site, with works within the existing centre due for completion in July. Completion of the first phase of the extension is due in Spring 2008.
Modus director Mike Riddell said: "Moving the Houndshill shopping centre more upmarket in terms of tenant mix and finish is very important to us, so is customer care and entertainment. Expect some new and interesting names to make the news shortly."
