Spanish fashion giant Mango is to enter the outlet retailing arena in the UK for the first time, taking an 8,000 sq ft store at Realm's Junction 32 outlet mall at Castleford, West Yorkshire. Last year its rival Zara chose the same site to launch its ex-Z outlet operation. Monsoon and Cadbury are also set to open at the centre, which has seen a £14m refit.

The lettings are part of a series agreed by Realm as it looks to upgrade the tenant mix at the former Freeport portfolio of outlet centres, which was acquired two years ago by its parent company Hermes.

Gap has agreed to take two units of 8,000 sq ft at Clarks Village and Junction 32 and will open this year, subject to planning. And Marks & Spencer is to open an outlet store at Freeport Fleetwood in Lancashire, which is to be officially relaunched after its refurbishment on May 30.

As the process of remodelling the Freeport portfolio comes to a close, Realm has taken on the management of the struggling Sterling Mills outlet at Tillicoultry, and it is drawing up plans for a second phase of development to give the scheme critical mass.
