Purple Apple winners

25 centre marketing teams went home clutching trophies after the 2006 Purple Apple marketing awards at the Brewery convention centre in London last week.

Meadowhall won three Purple Apples; the judges were impressed by its 'Funky Feet' campaign which they said "represented a whole new level in marketing tactics for the retail industry."

Six best-performing centres won a trip to Chicago to attend the ICSC's September convention. The winners were: Coventry City Centre; The Pavilions, Uxbridge; Princes Square, Glasgow; The Paisley Centre; White Rose, Leeds and Meadowhall.

The event was hosted by Toyah Willcox and BCSC President John Strachan presented the awards. He said: "The retail business is both competitive and relentless and these Purple Apple award winners recognize campaigns and projects that are front-line factors in driving footfall and custom."

Other winners were: Windsor Royal Shopping; McArthurGlen Mansfield; The Belfry, Redhill; The Pavillions, Uxbridge; Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth; Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow; Eastgate, Basildon; Lakeside; Brent Cross; thecentre:mk and Middlesbrough Town Centre.
