15,000 sq ft of tenant relocations as reconfiguration begins

Woking Shopping has today announced a number of tenant relocations totalling approximately 15,000 sq ft. Designed to deliver vacant possession of the units required to be demolished to facilitate the new Victoria Square development, the repositioned brands and eateries will open between March and June this year.

Largest of the moves is Boots. The health & beauty brand is moving to a recently renovated 8,000-sq ft site in Bandstand mall in the Peacocks centre. This move is temporary as once the development works are completed, Boots will be returning to Wolsey Place to a new purpose-built store of 27,000-sq ft. Boots Opticians is also taking a separate 1,500-sq ft store on the Bandstand Mall. Like the main store, Boots Opticians will return to Wolsey Place when the construction works are completed.

Bayfield’s Opticians has moved from 17 to 35 Commercial Way, taking a 2,000-sq ft unit. Book retailer, The Works, has acquired a 1,628-sq ft store at 37 Wolsey Walk split over ground and first floors. Rounding off the retail moves, Dr & Herbs will take a 707-sq ft store, also split over two levels, at 7 Wolsey Walk West.

The retailer relocations are accompanied by two relocations to existing cafés. Café Americanois taking a 1,600-sq ft restaurant located at 4 Middle Walk split over ground floor and first floor with space for 34 covers. The second relocation is Greggs, with the brand opening a 1,600-sq ft site on 33 Wolsey Walk. Both are due to open for Easter 2017.

The development of Victoria Square includes the creation of 125,000 sq ft of new retail floorspace anchored by a 50,000-sq ft Marks & Spencer store; a new Hilton hotel, 390 residential apartments in two towers of 30 and 34 storeys; space for a medical centre; 284 additional car parking spaces, and two new public plazas.
