NewRiver Retail, the UK REIT specialising in value-creating retail property investment and asset management, has announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors.
Christopher Taylor and Kay Chaldecott will join the board with effect from 31 March 2012. Current non-executive directors Peter Tom CBE and Susie Farnon will stand down from the board to pursue other business interests.
Taylor is chief executive of Hermes Real Estate and responsible for the management of £5bn of assets globally. Previously, he spent 17 years as director of investment and asset management at Prudential before moving on to HSBC Specialist Investments where he was head of European property.
Chaldecott, a chartered surveyor, enjoyed 27 years at Capital Shopping Centres, where she became managing director and an executive board director before stepping down in September 2011 to seek other business opportunities.
David Lockhart, chief executive officer, said: “I am delighted to welcome Christopher and Kay to the board of NewRiver. They both bring an invaluable range of skills and industry knowledge that will help to drive NewRiver forward. It is a mark of NewRiver’s recent growth and progression that we are able to attract two leading industry figures to the board and I look forward to working with them both.
“On behalf of the board, I would also like to thank Peter and Susie for their strong support and contribution over the last three years and their invaluable role in helping to establish NewRiver as one of the UK’s most active REITs and they leave with our best wishes.”
