Roundhouse wins Preston consent

Preston-based Roundhouse Properties has won planning for a 72,000-sq ft A1 (non-food) retail site in the south of the city

Roundhouse Properties’ retail development in Preston is the only new retail park planned for the North West this year. The retail development will be situated next to the M6, M61 and M65 interchange at Bamber Bridge in Preston and work on the 3.68-acre brownfield industrial site is expected to start in the second half of 2012.

Sainsbury’s has recently upgraded its store opposite the planned site, investing in a 20,000-sq ft extension. Premier Inn also operates its second busiest hotel at the Bamber Bridge location, with B&Q and Matalan also having a presence close to the scheme.

CBRE and Hynes & Co are the joint retail lettings agents for the scheme. Lawrence Earnshaw, senior director, out-of-town retail at CBRE, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to build a new retail development that will create jobs and provide a welcome boost to the local area. We are in the process of finalising a prominent national retailer for the scheme and have received strong interest from several other leading retailers."
