Stream of lettings for Land Securities in Scotland

Land Securities has secured a host of top brands at its four Scottish shopping centres in the past quarter.

Land Securities, which owns Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow, Bon Accord & St Nicholas centre in Aberdeen, Overgate in Dundee and The Centre in Livingston, has welcomed a number of leading brands to its centres, highlighting the company’s on-going commitment to retail north of the border.

This has included bringing the first Primark to the Edinburgh and Lothians area, which opened at The Centre just before Christmas. Spanning three floors, the 49,100 sq ft store attracted 10,000 shoppers on its opening day.

Other new lets at The Centre over the past three months include: babywear specialists Baby Loves It, toiletries brand Lush and traditional sweet shop Henley’s Sweets.

Land Securities portfolio manager for Scotland, Katherine Armstead, said: “In recent months, Land Securities has continued to attract leading brands to its Scottish portfolio, considerably strengthening our retail offer north of the border.

“In 2011, we have made improvements across all our centres from the retail mix to the shopping environment and this will continue in 2012 as we are already in talks with a number of exciting retailers and more deals set to be announced in the coming months.”

Land Securities’ newest Scottish centre, Overgate in Dundee, purchased just over a year ago has gone from strength to strength with Paperchase being the latest name to make Overgate its home. Renewed leases with key existing retailers Next, Argos and Claire’s Accessories have also been successfully secured.

At Buchanan Galleries, 2011 ended on a high with food company Eat and make-up boutique Bare Minerals leasing units at the centre.

Katherine added: “Land Securities in Scotland has developed a strong retail portfolio which, despite the current economic climate, has continued to give shoppers access to an extensive variety of top brands.”
