Government reveals new planning legislation

The government has unveiled significant changes to English planning legislation in a move to kick-start a stalled property and construction industry.

The new rules will allow local authorities to extend the timescale for implementing existing planning permissions for all developments permitted prior to 1 October 2009. It will also now be possible to make minor amendments to schemes with permission already granted.
