Hinckley bus station scheme is given the go ahead

A multimillion pound redevelopment of Hinckley town centre’s bus station has been signed by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and development partner, The Tin Hat Regeneration Partnership.

The Crescent scheme will include a major food store, new shops and Hinckley’s first multiplex cinema. Construction is due to start on site in 2012, with the scheme opening in 2014.

Bill Cullen, deputy chief executive of the council, said: “I am pleased with the level of progress that we have achieved with our development partners to get the scheme to this stage, particularly given the challenges of the current economic downturn.”
