Trinity Walk in Wakefield is rescued by consortium

Published:  25 November, 2009

A consortium has stepped in to complete the Trinity Walk development in Wakefield, which went into administration early this year. The 550,000 sq ft shopping centre is set to return on site by January 2010 thanks to a joint venture company comprising of Sovereign Land, AREA Property Partners and Shepherd Construction.

The consortium exchanged contracts with administrator KPMG to acquire the site and develop the property before completion.

Plans for the Wakefield development, which has reached the halfway mark, will stay largely unchanged. The centre will be fashion focused, with the new Debenhams department store at the heart of the project.

Cllr Peter Box, leader of Wakefield Council, commented: “The Council has been working hard behind the scenes to help find a new developer and we are delighted to see this latest progress which will hopefully once again see Wakefield buck the national trend and continue its regeneration.”
