Henderson Global Investors has been appointed by the Australian Government Future Fund to manage its initial UK property investment - a 33 per cent stake in Birmingham's Bullring.

Henderson Global Investors (Henderson) has been appointed by the Australian Government Future Fund (the Future Fund) to manage its initial UK property investment. Henderson will provide fund management services to the Future Fund.

Henderson, which has its own one third stake in the Bullring, will provide management services to the AUD$61.04 billion Australian sovereign wealth fund. The team will be headed by Myles White, Henderson’s Director of Shopping Centres.

James Darkins, head of property at Henderson, said: “To have been appointed by the Future Fund is a great endorsement of the strength of our asset and investment management skills, as well as our expertise in the retail property sector.

“With around half of Henderson Group’s shareholder base being in Australia, we already have strong links there and so we are extremely pleased to be working with the Future Fund. We will continue to work with Australian investors to provide them with access to global property markets via our extensive international property business.”
