Salmon Harvester buys Spinning Gate shopping centre in Leigh

Published:  27 August, 2009

Joint venture company Salmon Harvester has acquired a 12.7-acre site opposite the Spinning Gate Shopping Centre in Leigh, Lancashire. It exchanged contracts with the Quinn Group to buy the site, which overlooks the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Salmon Harvester is proposing a retail and leisure mixed-use development, including a large-format supermarket, multiplex cinema and restaurants.

Doug Stewart, chief executive of Salmon Harvester said: “This purchase is in line with Salmon Harvester’s current strategy to undertake selective acquisitions with good redevelopment and pre-letting potential.

“We see 2009 as an exceptional opportunity to build up our development portfolio in a risk-averse manner and are actively focussed on achieving this.”
