New look for Old Market centre

Published:  26 June, 2009

Kirkstone Property Ventures has finalised plans for the comprehensive refurbishment of the Old Market Shopping Centre in Taunton. The £3m revamp of the 40-unit scheme will be completed in time for Christmas this year.

The Old Market centre was built in the 1980s. It offers open and covered shopping, eating and drinking areas with direct access to a 600-space car park. The improvements to the centre will include new entrances, contemporary, high-quality mall finishes including new flooring and ceilings, feature lighting throughout, new signage and branding. The project also incorporates new restaurants and cafes, and 184 new apartments.

Paul Blyth of Kirkstone Property Ventures said: “The substantial investment shows a commitment to the town and we are pleased that development works are going ahead in the current economic climate.”
