Invista lodges Staines plans

A joint venture between Invista's Clerical Medical fund and Spelthorne Borough Council has submitted a planning application for the latest phase of re-development of the Elmsleigh shopping centre in Staines town centre.

Phase 3 of the centre's refurbishment will provide 43,000 sq ft of additional retail space over two floors, plus 124 residential units.

The extension also encompasses a new South Mall entrance, which matches the gateway to the North Mall, and a new bus station, which will provide modern facilities and an enclosed waiting area for passengers.

Trevor Colman, managing director of the scheme's designer Colman Architects, said: "The third phase works will provide Staines with an entirely modern and dynamic new extension to the centre."

And he added: "We are hopeful that work will start on site at the end of the year and finish by the summer of 2011."
